HR Wallingford area specialist water-focused consultancy, we build and test scale models to help us explore developments in the coastal and marine environments. Our facilities are some of the largest in the world. To support this work as well as the work of other national and international research and commercial facilities, we develop specialist equipment, software and instrumentation.
Our Equipment, Technology and Innovation (ET&I) group – a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers – is focused on developing and supplying this equipment. Our product portfolio stretches across high-quality wave generation, hydrodynamic instrumentation and data acquisition systems used by our own and other marine research facilities worldwide. This range of equipment helps our clients predict the performance of large scale marine structures and vessel design before they are delivered in real life. Innovation and customer focus are the keys to our success.
We are recruiting for a Quality Assurance, Safety and Facilities Manager to join our ET&I group. The group spearheads the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of HR Wallingford’s specialised laboratory equipment including our extensive range of instrumentation for hydrodynamic modelling. About the role
The role will require you to ensure that we obtain the necessary quality of components for manufacturing and assembly of our products. You will also maintain and extend our processes and procedures in compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 management system certifications. The role will require you to observe and implement the Company’s Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures. In addition to this you will also, advise and help coordinate all maintenance activities required at the Manchester facility.
Main Duties
- Promote good practice related to procedural compliance and encourage a comprehensive Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Management culture within the Group.
- Ensure that the Group is compliant with current Quality, Health, Safety and Environment regulations and help to develop HRW’s own policies and procedures.
- Support the development of equipment design, production, test and quality assurance procedures to meet the requirements and business needs of the ET&I Group.
- Provide support for Quality, Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Management and training through liaison with the QHSE Manager and the Estates Management Team in Wallingford.
- Responsibility for contract management and co-ordination of local facilities and asset management service providers.
Key qualifications and skills
- A substantial track record of quality assurance, safety or facilities management experience;
- Experience in the application of ISO9001, ISO 14001 and ISO45001 certifications;
- IOSH Managing Safely Certificate;
- Experience in the implementation of continuous improvement within cross-functional teams.
- Diploma; bachelor or master’s degree in a mechanical engineering or relevant engineering / science discipline is desirable but not essential;
