Senior / Principal Engineer or Scientist

Due to our continued success, we are recruiting for a Senior/Principal Engineer or Scientist to join our Ships and Dredging Group and take a leadership role in our ship navigation and mooring related research and consultancy projects. This position requires expertise in project management, scientific analysis, engineering skills, and a strong understanding of the marine environment.

You will be responsible for leading ship navigation simulation studies using our state-of-the-art ship and tug simulators to assess and improve ship navigation safety and efficiency. Additionally, you will take the lead in ship mooring studies, utilising our extensive physical modelling facilities to analyse and optimise mooring systems in various marine environments. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality project outcomes. Effective communication with clients will be crucial, as you will need to understand their requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs. Engaging in innovative research and development activities will support the growth of our ship navigation and mooring services. Furthermore, you will contribute to business development efforts by procuring and winning new projects and cultivating relationships with national and international clients.

Your expertise and leadership will play a vital role in advancing our capabilities and maintaining our position as a leading provider of ship navigation and mooring solutions in the marine industry.

Key qualifications and skills

  • A good engineering or scientific degree in a relevant subject
  • A genuine interest in researching and developing ship-related topics
  • At least 5 years relevant professional experience and/or a higher degree in a relevant subjects
  • A working knowledge of relevant national and international work within the marine field
  • Demonstrated ability to win and manage projects successfully
  • To be flexible, a self starter & curious to find solutions
  • Skilled in short and long-term planning, with the flexibility to manage changing priorities
  • Adaptability to learn.

  • Salary from £54,995 dependant on experience.
