This role involves not only hands-on technical work but also a significant focus on mentoring others on DevOps practices. You will be instrumental in embedding a DevOps culture across the organization and ensuring best practices are followed.

Our current infrastructure relies heavily on AWS, with many services running on EC2 instances. We are committed to modernizing our infrastructure to leverage the full potential of AWS services. As we embark on this transformation, we aim to foster a DevOps culture within our organization. If you are passionate about infrastructure as code, automation, and mentoring others, we want you on our team.

How you’ll add value:

  • Infrastructure Modernization: Lead the migration of services from EC2 instances to fully utilize AWS services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • DevOps Culture Advocacy: Champion the adoption of DevOps practices within the team and across the organization, promoting automation, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
  • Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and stakeholders, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Conduct workshops, training sessions, and code reviews.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform. Ensure automated configuration and management of environments.
  • Kubernetes Management: Oversee the deployment, management, and scaling of applications on Kubernetes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development and other operational teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of services.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Implement monitoring solutions to ensure system health and performance. Proactively identify and address potential issues and bottlenecks.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures.

You’ll be successful in this role if you:

  • Demonstrate Technical Proficiency:
    • Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
    • Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
    • Proficiency in Terraform infrastructure as code.
    • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Exhibit Leadership and Mentorship: Proven track record of mentoring and guiding colleagues, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Are a Proactive Problem-Solver: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Implement DevOps Best Practices: Deep understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
  • Promote a Shift-left Mentality & DevOps Transformation: Experience in moving from a "Ops & Dev" environment to a fully automated and self-service model

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)

Note: We operate a rolling recruitment approach  - no deadlines, just opportunities. Should the volume of applications become too high, we might briefly remove this posting to provide our hiring team the space for thorough and unbiased review. The role will be made available again if we decide we’re still looking for the right fit.
