(Junior) Legal Counsel (f/m/d)

The position

We are looking for our very first legal hire at Hive — someone excited to build the foundation of an in-house legal function in a fast-growing international scale-up in logistics and technology. This is a unique opportunity to combine legal expertise with business acumen and set up structures and processes that will shape our future legal department.

You will not only handle specific legal questions but also raise awareness for legal topics across the company. Acting as a trusted partner for our teams, you will make sure that legal considerations are flagged early, processes are established, and we work hand-in-hand with our external law firm network where needed.

What you'll be doing

  • Taking ownership of company-wide legal topics, including corporate, commercial, employment, insurance, and data protection law
  • Drafting, reviewing, and supporting negotiations around commercial contracts (merchant agreements, SLAs, T&Cs, supplier and partner agreements)
  • Managing corporate governance topics (entity data, shareholder agreements, board resolutions) and supporting investor and venture debt reporting requirements
  • Overseeing insurance matters (inventory, people, D&O, deposit) and ensuring coverage evolves with our business
  • Building and maintaining a central database of legal documents and templates
  • Coordinating with external law firms on specialized or complex matters

Your profile

  • Law degree: 1st German Staatsexamen, a Master of Laws (LL.M.), or a degree in Business Law (Wirtschaftsjura); Volljurist (1st + 2nd Staatsexamen) is a plus but not required
  • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in-house or in a corporate environment; experience in logistics or supply chain is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of German law, especially contract law; good familiarity with GDPR; first experience with insurance or governance topics is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide pragmatic, solution-oriented advice
  • Hands-on and structured, with the drive to build processes from scratch
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken); additional European languages are a plus
