Erith CFC

This posting is for hourly paid logistics employees to apply through.

About us

We are Ocado Technology and we empower global grocery retailers with cutting-edge cloud, robotics, AI, and IoT. Our Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) powers highly automated Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs), enabling efficient, single-pick online grocery delivery

About the role

We are currently looking for experienced Engineering Team Manager to be part of Ocado history, joining us at our operational Customer Fulfilment Centre in Erith, Kent. You will be leading a team of Engineers, Technicians and Trainees, driving their success by assessing their capabilities, identifying development opportunities and motivating them on a daily basis. You will play an instrumental part in the day-to-day allocation of workload and be involved in any disciplinary issues.

As an Engineering Team Manager, you need to be able to lead from the front, driving pace, accuracy and standards across all aspects of the CFC. As part of this you will need to be a competent and experienced Engineer in your own right, either mechanically or electrically, although you must be familiar and competent with both streams of engineering to enable decision making.

You will work a shift pattern to support our 24/7 operation, consisting of 12 hour shifts across days, nights and weekends.

About you

  • A passionate and experienced leader with a background in managing engineering teams within an automated FMCG environment, confident in making critical decisions under pressure.

  • Strong technical expertise in automation hardware and software, with in-depth knowledge of production, picking, and storage MHE systems.

  • Proficient in using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and computer-literate across standard software platforms.

  • Committed to health and safety, including working safely at height, with a creative and proactive approach to continuous learning and problem-solving.

  • Holds an Engineering HNC or relevant degree, supported by applied learning, an apprenticeship, or NVQ Level 3 in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines.

What we offer you

We believe in supporting our people with meaningful, flexible benefits that prioritise well-being and work-life balance. Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect:

    • Time to recharge:
264 hours annual leave (rising to 27 after 5 years), plus the option to buy more
    • Health & wellbeing:
Private Medical Insurance from your first month, wellbeing support through specialist apps and EAP, plus Income Protection and Life Assurance.
    • Family-first policies:

    • Financial support:
Pension with employer matching up to 7%, share schemes (Sharesave & BAYE), and interest-free loans for train tickets.
    • Commuter perks:
Cycle to Work Scheme and free shuttle buses to/from Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City stations.
    • Exclusive discounts:
15% off at Ocado.com with free delivery (starting in your first month).
