This is a 5 - 6 month secondment into the Tech Solutions Internal Communications team, reporting into the Head Of Internal Comms.
The role level is flexible - depending on experience - but ideally will attract someone with a passion and / or background for communications and engagement.
As an Internal Communications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the internal communications strategy. Your primary focus will be on elevating employee engagement levels through effective communication channels and strategies.

In this role you will;
- Build relationships and collaborate across Technology Solutions to understand and meet the internal communications requirements for different audiences:
- Reinforce our culture and tone of voice through consistent communications
- Work closely with the Centres of Expertise to utilise their specialist knowledge and ensure our engagement strategies are aligned
- Own, develop and manage a calendar of key messages to ensure consistent, relevant and timely delivery of internal communication material, and to avoid message conflict
- Day to day management of our communications platforms, including engagement reports, updating and ongoing monitoring, and gaining input from other Ocado colleagues as necessary
- Designing, uploading and editing content in our engagement platform Ocado XP and Ocado Connect - our fortnightly e-newsletter
- Produce high quality employee communications to brand guidelines (including guiding our creative design colleagues in Solutions marketing)
- Managing the translation process of key content
- Provide the tools and frameworks to empower managers and other key stakeholders to communicate effectively with their employees locally
- Use themes and data from employee listening to inform future communications
- Support the Internal Communications Manager in conducting an audit of all comms channels, and potential platform discovery should channel audit result in the need for a replacement
About you:
- An enthusiasm for and expertise in internal communications and employee engagement - particularly around helping employees understand business vision and objectives
- A strong and creative writer and proof-reader across all comms channels
- Excellent, written and verbal communication, spelling and grammar skills
- Understanding of how internal communication can impact employee onboarding and retention positively
- Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with stakeholders across all levels
- Strong prioritisation and multitasking skills, work well under pressure, to tight deadlines, accurately
- Ability to successfully manage and implement key projects from start to finish
- Problem solving and analytical capability, with the ability to interpret data, analyse findings and use this to propose and implement new communication strategies
- Confident decision maker who is able to work independently
- Ideally a general knowledge of Google Workspace and Slack (although training is available)
- Flexible approach to working hours to support a 24/7 global business operation
