About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our SAD DASH Concepts team who form part of the team that underpins Ocado Technology's technical focus. You will be expected to contribute to the design, build and analysis of the control algorithms for Ocado’s pioneering warehouse technologies. In this pivotal role you will embrace the opportunity to work in a collaborative research environment where analysis will inform and impact business decisions, and code will add to the intelligence behind Ocado’s robotic warehouses.
The SAD Dash Concepts team work alongside many areas across Ocado, including including the CFC Systems, Automation and Logistics Development teams, requiring excellent communication skills, attention to detail and ability to reason about and verify simulation results.
As part of Ocado’s Research and Development department, the SAD Dash Concepts team contributes to the innovation that fuels Ocado’s growth. You should be comfortable working in a number of different roles:
- Developer, creating simulations of a wide range of physical systems and designing prototypes of the control algorithms that run them;
- Analyst, generating and using large datasets to help inform business decisions and system design;
- Researcher, using these tools to optimise algorithms and business processes and constantly striving to improve the efficiency and profitability of the world’s largest purely online grocery retailer.
About you

We would also like you to have:
- Solid Java experience (ideally Java 17+)
- Python and SQL experience, particularly in a data mining and analysis setting
- Experience and interest in (Discrete Event) Simulations,Realtime Control Systems and optimisation techniques
