About the Role
The Localisation Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the translation, cultural adaptation, and localisation of content, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery. This role involves managing a team of localisation specialists, working closely with project managers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet global market demands.
What you will be doing
Team Management and Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of localisation specialists, translators, and editors.
- Assign tasks, monitor workloads, and manage performance to ensure team efficiency and quality output.
- Provide training and development opportunities to team members to enhance skills and maintain industry best practices.
Project Oversight:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee localisation projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Monitor project progress and resolve any issues or bottlenecks that arise.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and enforce quality standards and processes for localisation and translation projects.
- Review and approve final content to ensure linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, and alignment with brand guidelines.
- Conduct regular quality audits and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with product managers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Serve as the main point of contact for localisation-related queries and updates.
- Foster a collaborative environment between internal teams and external vendors.
Vendor and Budget Management:
- Manage relationships with external localisation vendors and freelancers, ensuring they meet quality and delivery standards.
- Negotiate contracts, manage budgets, and track expenditures related to localisation projects.
Technology and Tools:
- Oversee the use of localisation tools and software (e.g., CAT tools, translation management systems).
- Research and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure proper maintenance and updating of term bases, glossaries, and style guides.
About you
- Proven experience in localisation, translation, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency in one or more languages other than English is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of cultural adaptation and global market trends.
Preferred (but not essential)
- Familiarity with localisation tools and platforms (e.g., Phrase, DeepL, SDL Trados, MemoQ, Smartling).
