Senior Front-End Engineer
OVERVIEW:
As a Senior Frontend Engineer at Gymshark, you set the bar for how high quality, scalable, customer facing web experiences are built. You are a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of a typical project end to end, while also raising the capability of those around you.
You will work closely with Product, Design, Engineering Managers and Lead Engineers to deliver experiences that are fast, accessible and reliable at global scale. You are expected to make strong technical decisions, communicate trade-offs clearly, and help the team move forward with confidence.
This is an individual contributor role, with clear scope to influence technical direction, mentor others, and shape how frontend engineering is practiced across Gymshark.
This position is a 12-month FTC
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Leading the design and delivery of frontend solutions across projects of varying scale and complexity
- Owning features end‑to‑end, from discovery through build, testing, release and iteration
- Working across multiple codebases, balancing delivery speed with long‑term maintainability
- Breaking down complex work, identify dependencies early and support effective team planning
- Ensuring solutions meet engineering standards, quality definitions and non‑functional requirements
- Building high‑quality web experiences using strong fundamentals across HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React and Next.js
- Partnering with Product and Design to shape solutions that balance customer value, technical quality and delivery timelines
- MentorIing engineers through pairing, reviews and knowledge‑sharing to uplift team capability
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Essential Criteria:
- Strong experience delivering frontend solutions using React, Next.js and modern JavaScript fundamentals
- Ability to choose and apply appropriate rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, ISR, client-side)Experience building performant, accessible and secure web applications
- Ability to identify and resolve performance, security and maintainability issues early
- Hands‑on experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Comfortable integrating or maintaining native codebases and third‑party platforms (e.g., Shopify)Strong collaboration skills, able to communicate technical risks, trade‑offs and constraints clearly
