Assistant Store Manager

Working in our upcoming store in Amsterdam, you’ll play a pivotal part in bringing the Gymshark mission to life. Our community are our ‘family’, so we treat them as such. We don’t care if they buy, browse, or just hang out. What matters is providing a safe space where everyone belongs and feels welcome.

We know that the store in Amsterdam will be fast paced and high energy and as an Assistant Store Manager you will ensure that our community has the most incredible Gymshark experience by bringing a welcoming and positive energy to all those who visit. Building authentic connections with visitors to the store you will help our community to shop how they want, and when they want. You will manage, inspire, guide and encourage the team to create a great experience for all who visit.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Responsible for:

  • Embrace and embody Gymshark culture and values, be a natural brand ambassador in everything you do and be passionate about our community and their experience of Gymshark
  • Support the Store Manager with the overall day-to-day running and operational execution of the store, whilst thinking about the ‘what next’ and with the execution of store driven projects as and when needed
  • Assume Duty Manager responsibilities of the store when required & key holder, opening and closing the store (close to open)
  • Line management of your team, delivering training, creating learning opportunities, having performance conversations, and supporting everyone to be their best
  • Lead on developing, and mentoring a diverse and world-class team that is just as excited about Gymshark
  • Proactively and consistently delivering feedback on the shopfloor and working alongside your co-collaborators both internally within Gymshark and externally with Value Retail
  • Strive to overachieve store KPIs as explained by the business, by motivating your team through passionate leadership and coaching
  • Gatekeeper for brand, customer experience, product knowledge and operational best practice and be able to train the wider team
  • Be responsible for Gymshark’s most important assets: our people, customers, and community. Ensure they and their environment is safe and sound at all times. Also being responsible for physical assets such as the building, stock and tech and ensure efforts are made to minimise loss and everything is runs as it should
  • Nurture an instore culture which brings to life our values and holds diversity and inclusion at the heart of all decisions

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

  • Experience as a leader in a fast paced, high volume, agile retail environment
  • Proven track record of managing / leading / developing teams of 20++
  • Experience in a similar retail role providing excellent customer service and operational excellence
  • Experience in adapting to systems and processes to manage delivery of operational excellence in a fast paced environment
  • Positive approach - Open minded, receptive, and willing to learn about product, systems, processes, customer journey and our community
  • Highly effective communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire customers and our store team
  • Team Player – Trusted and reliable. Knows we are stronger together and can take and share constructive feedback 
  • Aligned to and inspired by our brand values with a shared passion for community, wellness and fitness 
  • Comfortable shifting gears and spinning multiple plates
  • You can commit to working where and when the retail teams need you on weekends/evenings and or bank holidays 
  • Full eligibility to work in the Netherlands  

In order to comply with PCI-DSS standards (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) which governs how we handle, store and access payment data, this position is subject to satisfactory results from necessary pre-employment checks, including a basic DBS check.
