As Groupon transforms into a high-performance organization, our talent bar has never been higher. We are looking for a Senior Tech Recruiter based in Prague to serve as the primary engine for our engineering growth.
You will own the end-to-end strategy for our most critical technical roles. While you will specialize in Engineering and Product leadership (Directors, Principals, Engineering Managers), you possess the versatility to pivot across Data Science, Infrastructure, and specialized Tech Ops. You are the talent partner for our Prague hub, acting as an active member of the local leadership team and ensuring every hire embodies our 2026 growth plan.This role sits at the intersection of technical excellence and business strategy. As Prague continues to be a cornerstone of Groupon’s global R&D and innovation, you’ll be instrumental in building the specialized teams that drive our marketplace architecture and commercial scale. You’ll operate with significant autonomy while maintaining tight alignment with our VP Talent and global Engineering leaders.
🌟 What You'll Do
- Manage the entire recruiting process from intake to offer. You are the single directly responsible individual for the hiring success of the Prague Tech Hub.
- Execute sophisticated strategies for technical leadership. You will navigate complex negotiations, equity discussions, and high-stakes stakeholder management with discretion and data.
- Maintain deep technical versatility. You are comfortable pivoting between a Distributed Systems Engineer, a Head of Product, and a Data Science Manager within the same week.
- Build talent pipelines before requisitions open. Anticipate hiring needs by maintaining warm relationships with the "top 1%" of talent in the region. When a role opens, you already have 3–5 qualified candidates ready to engage.
- Act as a strategic advisor to Engineering Managers. Challenge role scopes, tech stack requirements, and interview structures. Your expertise in the Prague and CEE market should influence how we compete for talent, not just execute someone else's plan.
- Deploy creative, data-driven sourcing methods. Move beyond LinkedIn. Engage with GitHub, StackOverflow, and local tech communities to find talent that doesn't just have the right CV, but demonstrates the high-performance capabilities Groupon requires.
- Champion Groupon's employer brand in Prague. Represent us at local tech meetups and conferences, and create compelling narratives that position Groupon as the premier destination for ambitious engineers in Czechia.
- Leverage data to tell stories. Present weekly talent intelligence reports: What is the local competition offering? Where is the talent migrating from? Your insights should shape our technical hiring strategy.
🧩 What We're Looking For
- 7+ years in full-cycle recruitment, with at least 4 years specifically focused on high-bar Technical Recruiting in high-growth or "Big Tech" environments.
- Fluency in English with the cultural intelligence to navigate both the local Prague talent dynamics and global stakeholders in the US and Europe.
- Deep knowledge of the Czech talent landscape, including local compensation benchmarks, tax nuances (OSVČ vs. HPP), and the competitive movements within Prague’s tech scene.
- Technical Literacy. You don't need to code, but you must credibly interview Principal Engineers and Technical Directors—understanding architecture, scalability, and modern stacks well enough to assess fit.
- Proven ability to influence and challenge Senior VP and Engineering leadership. You don't just take orders; you shape hiring strategy through market expertise.
- Data-driven optimization mindset. You analyze metrics (pass-through rates, offer acceptance, quality-of-hire) to constantly optimize your funnel.
- Lean operations approach. You operate efficiently, using AI and automation to automate the mundane and focus on the human.
- Resilience and comfort with ambiguity. Groupon is transforming. You thrive in environments where priorities shift and headcount isn't always ironclad.
- Executive presence. You can lead a calibration meeting with a skeptical VP of Engineering and walk out with a tighter, more effective hiring plan.
