Who are we looking for? đź’Ž

We are looking for a results-driven Category Manager of ELearning & Electronics to join our amazing team. This individual will be responsible for defining and executing the category strategy to drive growth, profitability, and an exceptional customer experience.  This role is a strategic, data-driven position responsible for the holistic management of E-Learning & Electronics. The ideal candidate will be an expert in developing and executing category strategies to drive sales and profitability, while also leveraging strong negotiation and relationship-building skills to manage key vendor partnerships. The role is a blend of 70% Category Manager and 30% Vendor Manager, where you’ll identify new business opportunities, negotiate favorable terms, and expand our marketplace by onboarding new vendors and products.

As a Category Manager, you’ll manage a product category's strategy, assortment, and pricing. The role involves vendor management, data analysis, and performance monitoring to drive sales and profitability and hit key performance indicators (KPIs). Additionally, you’ll spend part of your time exploring new business opportunities by sourcing and onboarding new vendors to expand our platform’s offerings.

Responsibilities:

As a Category Manager (70% of your role):

  • 📊 Own and optimize product categories to maximize sales, profitability and market share.
  • 🔍 Develop and execute a comprehensive category strategy based on market trends, competitor analysis, and customer insights.
  • đź’˛ Manage pricing and promotions to ensure a compelling customer value proposition and drive sales.
  • đź›’ Maintain a seamless and intuitive shopping experience by ensuring product quality, content accuracy, and a strong product assortment.

As a Vendor Manager (30% of your role):

  • đź’¬ Manage relationships with key vendors, ensuring they meet business objectives and performance targets.
  • 🤝 Negotiate favorable terms with vendors to ensure mutually beneficial agreements and align on pricing, product availability, and marketing efforts.
  • 🛍️ Ensure product availability by monitoring top-performing products and working with vendors to maintain supply.
  • đź”§ Identify and resolve issues like poor customer experiences, refunds, and duplicate listings, working closely with internal teams.

Skills & Qualifications:

💚 We’re Excited About You If You Have:

  • đź•’ 3-5 years of experience as a Category Manager, Vendor Manager, Key Account Manager, or Business Developer, with proven success in competitive markets, preferably in a marketplace or e-commerce business environment.
  • đź’¬ Strong negotiation techniques and relationship-building skills.
  • 📊 Data-driven decision-making ability and a track record of using data to analyze performance and optimize strategies.
  • 🤝 Experience in vendor management and business development, especially in sourcing and onboarding new vendors in a marketplace model.
  • 🔄 Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams.
  • 📦 Experience in the Marketplace model and understanding the full vendor lifecycle is a plus.
  • đź›’ Deep understanding of the customer journey from discovery to post-purchase, with the ability to create a compelling experience.
  • đź’ˇ Experience in pricing analysis and pricing strategy.
  • đź’» Software Knowledge: Salesforce, Google Suite, Tableau, Asana, Microsoft Office Suite.

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid with 3 days in office Tuesday - Thursday)  

Salary Band: $68,850.00 - $81,000.00 + SIP bonus
