Senior International Payroll Specialist - Fixed term-contract
Groupon is a marketplace where customers discover new experiences and services everyday and local businesses thrive. To date we have worked with over a million merchant partners worldwide, connecting over 16 million customers with deals across various categories. In a world often dominated by e-commerce giants, we stand out as one of the few platforms uniquely committed to helping local businesses succeed on a performance basis.
Groupon is on a radical journey to transform our business with relentless pursuit of results. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. The impact here can be immediate due to our scale and the speed of our transformation. We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact.
We're looking for an experienced Senior International Payroll Specialist to join our team and lead our global payroll operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across multiple countries. You'll work closely with in-country payroll partners, finance teams, HR, and external vendors, driving continuous improvement and excellence in our international payroll processes.
If you're a proactive, solutions-oriented individual with strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and a knack for leadership, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Operations: Manage end-to-end payroll processes for various countries, ensuring accurate and timely payments for salaries, bonuses, RSUs, benefits, and statutory deductions. Partner with local providers to maintain consistency and compliance, and troubleshoot any discrepancies.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure strict adherence to local, state, federal, and international payroll regulations. Stay updated on legislative changes and conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy and data integrity.
- Process Optimization: Collaborate with the Global Head of Payroll to identify and implement process improvements, driving efficiency, automation, and employee satisfaction. Support payroll system upgrades and integrations.
- Stakeholder Support: Be a primary point of contact for payroll-related queries, providing guidance and resolving complex matters with a high standard of service. Coordinate closely with Finance, HR, and Compliance.
- Reporting & Analysis: Prepare regular and ad hoc payroll reports, analyze data for trends, provide actionable insights, and support all reporting obligations.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- A proven track record in payroll management, with a strong focus on international/multi-country payroll operations.
- A deep understanding of payroll-related compliance, tax regulations, and statutory requirements in various jurisdictions.
- Prior experience working with global payroll vendors and systems.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, HR, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Skills and Competencies:
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Technical proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP), Excel, and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working across diverse cultures and time zones.
