WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a (Senior) Legal Counsel to shape and lead our legal function with impact, ownership, and vision. From corporate governance to commercial partnerships, product regulatory topics, and the occasional M&A transaction, you will be the driving force behind our legal strategy, ensuring the business is empowered with pragmatic, high-quality legal support. This is a role for someone who’s not only fluent in the intricacies of corporate and product law, but also eager to roll up their sleeves and build a future-proof legal organization from the ground up.
Working closely with our leadership team, you will navigate a wide variety of legal challenges, partner on strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance in a fast-scaling environment. You will be the trusted advisor across the business - from guiding product and commercial teams through regulatory frameworks to supporting strategic deals and corporate projects. At the same time, you will lay the foundation for a world-class legal and compliance function by building and mentoring a high-performing team.

YOUR MISSION
- Lead and evolve the company’s legal function, covering corporate, commercial, product, and governance matters - with the ability to manage strategic transactions such as M&A when they arise.
- Act as a trusted partner to leadership and teams across the business, providing clear, pragmatic advice that balances risk with business opportunity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure legal frameworks effectively support innovation and growth.
- Build scalable processes for contracts, compliance, and risk management that can grow with the business.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage agreements with partners, customers, and vendors - enabling the business to move fast while staying protected.
- Champion innovation in the legal function - leveraging modern tools, automation, and external expertise to make legal support proactive and business-enabling.
ABOUT YOU
- Hands-on legal experience, ideally a mix of law firm and in-house, with exposure to corporate, commercial, and product law.
- Fully qualified lawyer (2nd State Exam or international equivalent), comfortable navigating both complex strategy and day-to-day execution.
- Strong track record of advising on contracts, governance, compliance, and supporting business-critical projects (M&A experience is a plus, but not the sole focus).
- Skilled at simplifying complexity and delivering practical, business-oriented solutions at speed.
- Excellent communicator and collaborator, confident working with leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: proactive, hands-on, and eager to build processes, structures, and teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working fluently in both German and English, across legal documents, negotiations, and internal communication.
- Nice to have: Experience in a digital-first, product-led, or regulated industry environment (e.g. SaaS, fintech, healthtech). General knowledge of insurance law (or interest in building such).
