About this role...

You’ll own and shape the internal IT function end-to-end - from devices and SaaS tools through to infrastructure, security, support, and automation. As Head of IT you’ll set the vision, build the team, and ensure our systems scale with the business. You’ll combine hands-on expertise with strategic leadership: balancing day-to-day operations with longer-term roadmaps, vendor negotiations, and risk management.

You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Security, Legal, Finance, People, and Operations to deliver reliable, secure, and cost-effective IT services across all offices and remote teams worldwide. This role is both operational and strategic: you’ll be responsible for creating the processes and culture that make IT a true enabler of growth, ensuring employees can work productively and securely wherever they are.


Responsibilities

  • Support & Service Delivery - Lead the IT help-desk operation, establishing service levels, managing escalations and tracking key metrics like resolution times and staff satisfaction. Deliver consistent, quality support for all employees worldwide.
  • Team & Leadership - Develop and mentor the IT team, establishing clear responsibilities, growth paths and feedback channels. Foster strong working relationships with Engineering, Security, Finance, People and Operations teams to ensure IT aligns with business priorities.
  • Joiner-Mover-Leaver & Identity - Manage the complete onboarding and off-boarding lifecycle, creating efficient workflows (Okta, Trelica, Zapier) for timely system access provisioning and removal. Implement and maintain proper role-based access controls with strict least-privilege principles.
  • Devices & Hardware - Handle the procurement, setup, maintenance and retirement of laptops and other equipment. Oversee mobile device management, supplier contracts and relationships, whilst establishing hardware standards for consistent, hands-off provisioning.
  • SaaS & Supplier Management - Take ownership of SaaS renewals, licence management, supplier agreements and cost optimisation. Track supplier performance against SLAs, ensuring our SaaS platforms remain secure, compliant and properly aligned with business objectives.
  • Office Infrastructure - Maintain reliable AV systems, meeting rooms, collaboration tools, networks and access systems across our Dublin headquarters and global locations. Coordinate IT requirements for facilities as we continue to expand.
  • Security & Compliance - Work alongside Legal & Compliance colleagues on GDPR and security. Manage system patching, endpoint protection, monitoring and incident response processes. Keep systems audit-ready whilst promoting IT policy adoption.
  • Automation & Efficiency - Create and maintain streamlined workflows for onboarding, SaaS provisioning and other routine IT tasks. Develop self-service capabilities, implement zero-touch setup processes, and utilise dashboards/alerts to spot and fix issues before they impact users.
  • Risk & Strategy - Maintain clear visibility of IT risks, costs and capacity. Report to leadership on budgets, supplier performance, vendor related incidents and project progress. Drive ongoing improvements and shape Flipdish's IT roadmap for sustainable growth.

Requirements

Must-have

  • Experience leading internal IT in a scaling tech / SaaS environment.
  • Leadership experience: hiring, growing a team, setting objectives, prioritisation.
  • Hands-on experience with device management, endpoint systems, ID/access, SaaS administration.
  • Vendor management and contract expertise.
  • Ability to translate technical trade-offs into business impact and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bias toward automation, standardisation, and reducing toil.
  • Familiarity with analytics / dashboarding for IT metrics.
  • Experience managing globally distributed or multi-office IT support.

Nice to have

  • Experience with compliance and security frameworks (GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
  • Experience with AI-driven IT support tooling.
  • Knowledge of modern Identity Management & Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).

What We’ll Look For

  • Clear examples of past system designs, trade-offs, and technical reasoning.
  • Demonstrated automations or self-service tooling you’ve implemented that reduced toil or improved efficiency.
  • Evidence of people leadership: coaching, handling conflict, and building high-performing IT teams.
  • Proven track record managing JML/identity workflows and delivering smooth onboarding/off-boarding.
  • Vendor management experience: negotiating contracts, handling renewals, and optimising cost.
  • Ability to communicate IT strategy, risks, and trade-offs in plain language to non-technical leaders.
