First Digital is seeking a proactive and experienced Legal Counsel to join our growing in-house legal team. This role is best suited for someone with a solid background in commercial contracts, corporate litigation, and civil law, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with varied legal matters.
You’ll be responsible for advising on day-to-day legal issues, supporting dispute resolution, managing legal risks, and partnering with external counsel as needed. This is a great opportunity for someone who is commercially minded and looking to grow within a fintech or fast-evolving business environment.
Responsibilities

Provide legal advice on a range of commercial, civil, and operational matters, balancing risk and business objectives.

Manage and coordinate litigation, dispute resolution, and legal correspondence (e.g. demand letters, settlements, pre-action strategies).

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and partnership documents.

Support regulatory and compliance matters in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external advisors.

Liaise with external counsel to ensure efficient handling of legal matters, litigation cases, and documentation.

Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the company’s business across various jurisdictions.

Assist with internal governance, record-keeping, and contract management processes.

Provide general legal support to business teams on strategic initiatives, operational risks, and legal documentation.
Requirements

Degree in Law and qualified to practice in a common law jurisdiction.

5–10 years PQE, with strong grounding in civil and commercial law, and hands-on experience in corporate litigation or dispute resolution.

Experience in both law firm and in-house environments preferred, but not required.

Ability to work independently on a broad range of legal issues and manage external counsel.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

Strong sense of accountability, professionalism, and commercial judgment.
