The role
The Distributor Profiles Researcher is the go-to source for asset management executives seeking to understand the structure and dynamics of retail fund distribution.
It is a shared resource for key decision-makers reading FT Specialist US's two largest titles: FundFire and Ignites.
We seek a researcher adept at tracking key regulatory disclosures, spotting relevant news stories and hunting for information about the people and platforms that influence what broker-dealers and other platforms offer to financial advisors. You will work from our Manila office.
You will be responsible for keeping profiles of some of the most influential distribution platforms in the industry up-to-date, and for weaving together a comprehensive narrative of what these broker-dealers look for, how they are structured and why.
The successful candidate must be organized and able to prioritize multiple workflows at once. You must adhere to a schedule to ensure you are on top of the companies you cover, including company earnings calls, public presentations and regular regulatory filings. You will also liaise with company representatives to ensure our readers have the most current information available about the powerful --and complex--organizations.
Must have strong writing and communication skills, as you will be coordinating with colleagues within FT Specialist and with representatives of the companies we cover.
You will work on a two-person team and coordinate with New York-based editors. Your work will be read by hundreds of thousands of fund industry professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Stay on top of developments at assigned firms/investors and be on the lookout for updates that provide readers with critical information or sales leads. This includes asset updates, revenue sharing and other disclosures, quarterly earnings calls, etc.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills needed to manage time effectively, schedule calls, input data and meet deadlines, and regularly communicate progress to the NY Team.
- Display a good level of computer skills and FT Specialist US systems or programs. You will be expected to maintain basic files, input content into our online publishing system, and use various research tools.
- Write clean and concise summaries. Determine where in the profile various pieces of information belong and suggest areas to edit out or combine over time.
- Show an ability to develop rapport with industry contacts, including senior investment professionals where appropriate.
