About the role:

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Business Partner, this newly created Management Accountant role supports the existing Commercial Finance team with the day-to-day financial management of the FT Advertising business through the production of robust financial reporting, analysis, planning and forecasting. 

 

This role will work alongside a pre-existing Management Accountant to build collaborative partnerships across the global advertising sales, delivery & operational teams, provide insightful analysis to guide decision making, and communicate timely financial performance to highlight opportunities and drivers of success.

 

The FT’s market leading Commercial team is in the midst of a period of considerable growth and investment and the Commercial Finance team contribute materially to that success by providing high quality analysis, support and reporting to key stakeholders across the business from Board level insight to team level detail. 

 

The successful candidate joins the Commercial Finance team at a time of growth, change and high ambition as we embark on an extensive cross team exercise of Finance transformation and help guide the FT towards its ambitious growth targets. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a high-profile team that is having a significant impact on decision-making across the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Weekly Sales reports. 
  • Timely and accurate month end processing and reporting of revenues and costs (variable and overheads) and variance analysis as required by key stakeholders
  • Monthly headcount & payroll reconciliation
  • Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Support in preparing timely and accurate quarterly forecasts for revenue and costs
  • Support in preparing the monthly/quarterly commission payouts
  • Assistance with the raising and reconciliation of PO’s
  • First point of contact for external audit queries.
  • Contribution of ideas to help streamline our processes and develop our reporting to the business
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all procedure documentation relating to their area of responsibilities.
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by the business and the Commercial Finance Business Partner

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • ACCA/CIMA part-qualified/a bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Financial Management or equivalent would be an advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in a relevant finance environment.
  • Confident communicator with a variety of audiences and for regular interactions within the Finance team, the wider FT business, other support functions, and in some cases external third parties. This role will also have a high degree of virtual interaction (telephone, video and email) with the UK, US and other FT global offices. Clear communication and the ability and desire to integrate into a remote Global team is essential for success.
  • Demonstrable, intermediate level ability with MS Excel is essential (advanced level preferred).
  • Experience with Google suite, Oracle Accounts and Essbase would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable analytical skills, comfortable with large financial data sets.
  • Effective organisation and time management skills, able to handle multiple requests and prioritise accordingly. 
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated with an ability to work independently. 
  • Great attention to detail
  • Proactive to understand stakeholder needs and take initiative to problem solve.
  • Technical experience with or the ability to adapt quickly to newly implemented general ledger systems as well as other supporting systems
