About the role:

The FT Newspaper is produced at 16 print sites globally, and is distributed into multiple countries via 6 channels around the world. Reporting into the UK Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner, the Management Accountant - Print Circulation will provide key management accounting & Finance support across all financial processes, reporting and business modelling. This role follows UK working hours.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to gain experience working in a high-profile business that requires strong financial support in order to meet ambitious goals and targets.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Timely & accurate preparation of the distribution cost analysis and reporting to business and finance stakeholders. 
  • Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Support in preparing timely and accurate quarterly financial forecasts & operating plans for both revenues and costs as required.
  • Assistance with the raising and reconciliation of Purchase Orders in relation to distribution costs.
  • First point of contact for PO related queries within the team.
  • Contribution of ideas to help streamline our processes and develop our reporting to the business
  • Timely and accurate maintenance of all procedure documentation relating to their area of responsibilities.
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by the business and the Senior Commercial Finance Business Partner

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • ACCA/CIMA part-qualified, a bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Financial Management or equivalent would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite.
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in a relevant finance environment.
  • Confident communicator with a variety of audiences for regular interactions within the Finance team, the wider FT business, other support functions, and in some cases external third parties. This role will also have a high degree of virtual interaction (telephone, video and email) with the UK, US and other FT global offices. Clear communication and the ability and desire to integrate into a remote Global team is essential for success.
  • Demonstrable, intermediate level ability with MS Excel is essential (advanced level preferred).
  • Experience with Google suite, Oracle Accounts and Essbase would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable analytical skills, comfortable with large financial data sets.
  • Effective organisation and time management skills, able to handle multiple requests and prioritise accordingly. 
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated with an ability to work independently. 
  • Great attention to detail
  • Proactive to understand stakeholder needs and take initiative to problem solve.
  • Technical experience with or the ability to adapt quickly to newly implemented general ledger systems as well as other supporting systems.
