The team: Internal Products

Our team is Internal Products, one of the five FT Technology Groups. Our mission is to enable our peers (in tech and beyond) to do their best work. We do this in a variety of ways: finding a team the right tool for the job, helping them automate the most tedious parts of their work so they can invest in the valuable tasks they truly care about, discovering new ways in which to bring value to the business, and more.

We are made up of the following teams in 2024:

  • Finance Technology: Responsible for the maintenance and development of the SaaS and PaaS applications that make up the finance systems landscape. Including Oracle Cloud ERP, Infrastructure and Integration Cloud and Coupa Procurement.
  • Editorial Technology: Responsible for a suite of applications for our Editorial staff to author, edit and publish news articles.
  • Marketing Technology: Responsible for the technical ecosystem that supports our Marketing teams, including our email platform serves the roughly 8 million emails that are sent every week to our customers who subscribe to our content.
  • CRM Technology: Responsible for our Salesforce platform and the different applications used by our Sales teams.

Most of our teams use NodeJS, deploying a lot of their applications to Heroku multiple times a day using CircleCI. We often use AWS resources too, such as Lambda, SQS, Kinesis, S3 and others. Our databases are primarily MongoDB, with some PostgreSQL and Neo4j. Our front end apps are built using Origami and some React.

The Role

As an Junior Engineer you will be working with your team to build features for and support a range of systems used by FT employees. You will be contributing to the entire cycle of development - from idea, to writing code, testing, releasing to production, and ensuring it works as expected. You are passionate about learning new technologies, as well as learning more about the domain and people you are building for. You enjoy taking responsibility for your work and own your personal development. You work as part of a team to achieve the shared goals of the team.
