Group Accounting Director
Work location: Berlin / DE (Hybrid)

Reports to: Group CFO
The Accounting Director will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions across all our international entities (Germany, Poland, UK, China). This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record of managing diverse accounting teams in different markets. The successful candidate will have expertise in consolidation, tax regulations pertinent to e-commerce, IFRS and implementing robust accounting processes and systems. The Accounting Director will report directly to the CFO and will play a key role in shaping the financial infrastructure to support our growing business.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Financial Consolidation:
- Set up the process and later on oversee the consolidation of financial statements from all international entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Collaborate with regional accounting teams to streamline and standardize reporting processes, ensuring the proper accounting of transactions supporting the business
- Tax Compliance and Strategy:
- Ensure compliance with international tax regulations and e-commerce tax laws across all regions.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s financial position and help to scale the business.
- Process and System Implementation:
- Introduce and oversee the implementation of accounting systems and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures that enhance internal controls and support business objectives.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams across Germany, Poland, the UK, and China, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Ensure alignment and consistency in accounting practices across all entities.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with the CFO and other senior executives to support strategic decision-making.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis and reporting.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance financial operations.
- Stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company’s accounting practices remain current and compliant.
WHAT YOU BRING IN
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing international teams
- Exposure to digital transformation of finance function to deliver efficiencies and productivity. Exposure to RPA and finance process automation will be highly advantageous to the role.
- Strong knowledge of international accounting standards, tax regulations, and e-commerce industry practices, IFRS.
- Good knowledge of German GAAP accounting standards (HGB).
- Experience and expertise in governance and compliance framework set up & implementation in high growth organizations globally will be advantageous.
- Understanding of European ESG regulations will be an additional asset.
- Proven track record in managing financial consolidations for multinational entities.
- Experience in implementing accounting systems and process improvements.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Fluent German and English language skills are required. Polish would be a huge asset.
