Head of Corporate Development - India

Initially Remote, the Office Based on Office set-up

As Head of Corporate Development for Ebury in India, you will lead our expansion into the Indian market. You will oversee all aspects of establishing and growing Ebury's presence in India, from the initial setup of the legal entity to managing day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for building and leading a team, setting strategic objectives, establishing bank partnerships, and securing necessary licenses. Your goal will be to drive the success of Ebury in India by bringing our suite of services, including payments, collections, business lending, and FX risk management, to exporters and importers in the region.

Responsibilities:

  • To spearhead the legal establishment of Ebury's entity in India.
  • Secure all necessary licenses and regulatory approvals for Ebury.
  • Identify, select, and operationalize suitable partnerships with Indian banks and fintechs
  • Bring Ebury global technology, products and processes to the Indian market, localizing where needed.
  • Implement and maintain company-wide sales methodologies and processes.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Corporate Development, and Product teams to optimize product messaging and positioning for the Indian market.
  • Recruit, lead, and manage the local team.
  • Stay informed about the Indian financial industry through continuous learning and professional engagement.

Desired Experience 

  • Proven success in establishing and expanding financial services operations within India.
  • Significant experience in obtaining licenses and regulatory approvals for financial services in India, with a preference for PA-CB.
  • Experience in FX and other cross-border financial services, such as import/export lending, international payments/collections, and cash management.
  • An established network of contacts and relationships within the Indian financial services sector, including banks, fintechs, and regulators.
  • Experience in serving the SME sector in India.
  • Experience in a non-bank financial services environment (e.g., start-up vendor, FX specialist, cash management provider).
  • Understanding of compliance, regulatory, and AML requirements within the Indian financial services sector.
  • Experience in running projects and partnerships within the Indian financial services sector.
