Head of Lending Operations
Head of Lending Operations
London - Hybrid (4 days in office)
We are seeking a bright, ambitious, and self-motivated leader to lead our Lending Operations team. As Ebury continues its rapid global expansion, this role is critical in ensuring our SME lending and supplier finance products scale efficiently. You will lead the team responsible for the end-to-end processing of lending transactions, driving operational excellence, and partnering with Product and Technology to build the future of our lending infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Execution
- Team Oversight: Lead and manage the team responsible for receiving, processing, and approving supplier finance transactions for Ebury’s SME client base.
- Performance Management: Set, monitor, and ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and internal quality standards.
- Escalation Management: Act as the primary point of clinical escalation for complex queries, resolving bottlenecks to ensure seamless transaction flow.
Strategy, Scaling & Continuous Improvement
- Operational Design: Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Credit departments to design and implement workflows for new products taking into account cross-border jurisdictional variations.
- Process Engineering: Identify opportunities to improve processing efficiency and client experience. Define requirements for system enhancements and automation.
- Scalability: Transform manual processes into scalable, automated frameworks capable of supporting Ebury’s high-growth trajectory.
Risk & Compliance
- Control Design: Maintain a robust understanding of Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML) risks, implementing controls and identifying "red flags" to mitigate risk.
- Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all lending operations remain compliant with local and international regulations.
Experience & Requirements
- Lending Expertise: Knowledge of SME lending and trade operations.
- FX Proficiency: A solid understanding of FX products (Spot, Fixed Forwards, Window/Parallel Forwards) and their application within lending structures.
- Leadership Track Record: Proven experience managing teams in a fast-paced, high-change environment (e.g., FinTech or high-growth Financial Services).
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to provide solutions that balance scalability, efficiency, and risk.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management with the ability to build relationships across all areas of the business including Product, Credit, and Legal departments. The role requires effective communication, with the ability to take ownership of both team and client issues and remain accountable through to resolution.
- Adaptability: A proactive "continuous improvement" mindset, comfortable navigating the ambiguity of a rapidly evolving product suite.
