Senior Financial Accountant
Location: Ebury Leon - 4 days a week, office-based working (1 day from home office)
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will work in the Finance - Financial Control & Reporting department in the firm’s Leon office and will report directly to one of the Financial Controllers. You will assist with the oversight of two Junior Financial Accountants on the team.
Role
The Finance team is responsible for maintaining proper accounting records both locally and at a Group level, including internal and external IFRS and local GAAP reporting, as well as reporting to the parent company, Santander. The role will be focused on the Santander reporting, incorporating control measures and identifying opportunities for Ebury to be more efficient and effective. This is a position that will require autonomy, attention to detail, and strict adherence to deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for reporting various schedules and annexes to the parent company and ensuring that all information is accurate and has appropriate support
- Assist and train the junior financial accountants with their Santander reporting tasks
- Identify opportunities for automation of reporting and work with the technology team to build these enhancements
- Participate as needed in the internal subsidiary reporting, preparing reports on financial performance, including variance analysis and commentary around the business performance and any unusual trends
- Support as needed on audit-related activities for subsidiaries of the group, managing coordination of auditor requests and ensuring adherence to deadlines
- Participate in accounting functions, performing the calculations and bookings as part of month-end close
- Develop and maintain complex excel spreadsheets to support reporting and accounting tasks
- Support the development of a culture of ownership and accountability for identifying and initiating change that will improve processes, controls, and systems
- Proactively engage with all functional areas across Ebury’s global operations, and external parties, undertaking an analytical review of processes, ensuring appropriate controls are in place and advising on improvements and efficiencies to provide timely reporting to external parties.
The successful candidate should demonstrate the capacity to adapt to the changing environment, as well as have critical thinking and strong communication skills. The candidate will need to effectively collaborate and employ innovative practices, to increase efficiencies both in finance as well as across the business.
Required Experience
- Finance professional with at least 4 years of relevant experience
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis
- IFRS knowledge is required.
- Exceptional communication skills in Spanish and English required.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large amounts of data without compromising accuracy.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
