The Role
An Engineering Manager at Duco leads one of our cross functional, empowered engineering teams, owning the delivery of the functionality that ensures our platform continues to meet, and ultimately exceeds, the needs of our customers. Reporting to a Director of Engineering, you will lead the Standard recon team - developing our enterprise scale cash reconciliations product & growing it’s uptake within the wider Duco platform.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of 3-6 engineers - owning the planning, execution and success of complex technical deliverables
- Ensuring that the team are making sound architectural & technical decisions from the inside - contributing code, code reviews & quality assurance to help the team move faster
- Influencing & developing the product & technology backlogs in collaboration with Product Managers, & other stakeholders - ensuring that work is well scoped & aligned to company mission
- Hiring and line management within the team, including performance management and reviews, helping to grow your team members’ careers
- Shape the future of the engineering organisation - contributing to process & practice development to put the teams in the best position to succeed
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams in a fast-growth environment, making strategic decisions and fostering continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate a sense of ownership and accountability in decision-making, ensuring follow-through on collective decisions and learning from both successes and failures.
- Background as a hands-on engineer & a desire to continue contributing code.
- History of empowering team members - encouraging autonomy, innovation, and creativity within established guidelines.
- Strong communication skills with a track record of providing regular updates on team outcomes and acting as an ambassador for company and engineering values.
- Technical Acumen to identify and address technical risks effectively, ensuring systems meet reliability and performance standards in a proactive manner.
- Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders both inside and outside of engineering.
- Experience with progressive agile methodologies, fostering adaptability and efficiency within the team.
