Marketing & Communications Lead

Makina, a crypto-native organization of builders and DeFi leaders, is seeking a full-time Marketing & Communications Lead. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-growing team focused on building trust-minimized infrastructure for the next generation of onchain strategies.

Makina introduces a novel framework for onchain asset management that addresses a significant gap in the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. While DeFi has successfully replicated many traditional financial primitives, asset management remains underdeveloped, and sophisticated yielding strategies are not broadly available to users across the space. Makina provides a highly adaptable and secure architecture designed to facilitate a broad spectrum of strategies.

Job Summary:
As the Marketing & Communications Lead, you will focus on managing Makina’s marketing, communications, and content strategy to serve key stakeholder groups such as:

• Makina’s community of users and stakeholders, including depositors, token holders, and strategy operators.
• The general crypto-native community of companies, protocols, and other entities that might be interested in various partnership opportunities related to Makina (i.e., distribution channels, partnerships that provide utility for LP tokens, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and refine brand voice, market positioning, and strategic messaging.
• Define and execute a robust content strategy that includes various channels, including short/long-form content, various websites, and other external-facing materials.
• Work with Makina’s Community & Growth team to ensure that Makina’s social media strategy is consistent with Makina’s brand voice, positioning, and overall messaging.
• Work with the Makina team to develop and enhance the current events strategy.
• Work with external design partners to manage and refine brand assets, including various logos and related design content.

Key Requirements:

• Proven ability to manage crypto-native marketing, communications, and content strategies.
• Ability to write high-quality content on relevant topics. 
• Crypto-native level industry knowledge (especially in the DeFi space).
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a capacity for independent and flexible thinking.
• Ability to work autonomously and to be responsible for achieving the desired results while also contributing to the success of projects shared by the wider team.
• Integrity, humility, intellectual curiosity, honesty, and forthright communication. We are a team of open-minded intellectuals who utilize a dialectical approach to arrive at what is true.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves:

• 2+ years of experience in a marketing and/or communications role for a crypto-native company.
• Proven ability to manage and execute a crypto-native events strategy.
• Some understanding of core asset management concepts.
• Prior experience working on the marketing strategy for a DeFi protocol.
