Our Downstream Demand Forecast team is looking for a new Junior Data Scientist based in Lille or Paris.

The Downstream Demand Forecast team, part of the Data Supply Chain, is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of innovative analytical and Artificial Intelligence solutions around multi-echelon demand forecasting. You will work within a multidisciplinary team composed of Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Analytics Engineers, and ML Engineers, working in an agile manner and in close proximity with our Product and Engineering stakeholders as well as our business users.

As a Junior Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in analyzing data, developing AI models to production, and providing insights to optimize demand forecasting and improve the stock management throughout our supply chain network. We welcome candidates with demonstrated experience in time series forecasting and a passion for leveraging data to drive business decisions.

Your Responsibilities

Your responsibilities are varied:

  • Analyze historical sales data and market trends to forecast demand for Decathlon products.
  • Analyze historical sales data and compare it with internal factors (such as price, offering, or product information) and external factors (market trends, weather, calendar data, etc.) to forecast demand for Decathlon products.
  • Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms for demand forecasting applied for product purchase and replenishment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain Business, Engineering, and Product Development to align Data and AI efforts with business objectives.
  • Evaluate and improve existing forecasting models and methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise data visualizations and presentations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data science and supply chain management.

  • Documentation / code: Git, Confluence
  • Data Visualisation: Tableau

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Data Science Experience: You already conducted several Data Science projects with a proficiency in statistical analysis,machine learning techniques including time series time series analysis and forecasting.
  • Business understanding: You understand supply chain concepts, particularly stock optimization and demand forecasting. You know how to transform business needs into well-defined problems and concrete (actionable) recommendations.
  • Programming: You have experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, Spark, TensorFlow, Pytorch for data analysis and modeling.
  • Analytical mindset: You have a great ability to structure analysis and interpret relevant lessons (insights).
  • Collaborative spirit: You are comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams (business, data, product, governance).
  • Proactive & curious: You enjoy exploring new solutions and continuously improving analysis methods.
  • Languages: You have a professional command of English.
