By simplifying massive datasets into actionable business insight, we help businesses make data-driven decisions to optimize pricing, inventory, and product assortment. 

We are seeking a dynamic and technical proficient Sales Engineer to join our team.  In the role, you will bridge the gap between our advanced products and the customers needs, combing strong technical knowledge with persuasive sale skills. You will work closely with the sales and product teams to identify customer requirements, deliver tailored solutions, and support the entire sales process - from initial contact to post-sale support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical discovery and translate customer goals into solution architectures that align with our data model and predictive capabilities
  • Articulate how Datavations’ platform delivers value through pricing optimization, assortment benchmarking, share tracking, and more.
  • Support Account Executives throughout the sales lifecycle by providing pre-sales technical insights, documenting technical aspects of deals (RFPs), and supporting the development of ROI cases.
  • Present findings and dashboards that bring our data to life for both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Pull relevant data subsets (SQL), prep tailored demos, and validate results with client-side analysts and decision-makers.
  • Engage with client data teams on integration best practices, data formats, and deployment architecture.
  • Assist in fielding technical objections, especially related to data fidelity, API access, and compatibility with internal BI workflows.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer to Product and Engineering, surfacing friction points, feature requests, and opportunities for roadmap impact.
  • Partner with Marketing on enablement content and demo assets.

Qualifications:

  • Strong presales communication; able to lead discovery, simplify technical concepts, and produce follow-up materials that drive next steps.
  • Experience in time series data analysis to identify insights and narratives using BI tools.
  • Having a customer centric mindset, someone who enjoys solving and identifying customer needs and shaping solutions that create measurable business outcomes. 
  • Proficient in SQL, including complex JOINs, advanced filtering and aggregation techniques on large datasets, particularly within ClickHouse.
  • Familiarity with BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Superset, Retool) and an ability to explain time-series and statistical insights clearly.
  • API literacy; comfortable working with APIs, understanding authentication, data formats and integration workflows
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and similar cloud based analytics stacks
  • Experience with retail data (POS, inventory, e-commerce).
  • Knowledge of large-scale web aggregation and scraping techniques.
  • Understanding of basic ML/forecasting concepts like demand curves and elasticity.
  • Previous experience in data or analytics SaaS sales environments.
