With high scores on Gartner, G2 and Glassdoor, our clients and employees have let us know what they love about us.
About the Role
As a Cymulate Sales Engineer, you’ll be the technical cornerstone of our sales team — combining deep SecOps expertise with the ability to translate complex detection and response challenges into clear, actionable validation strategies. You’ll engage with CISOs, SOC leaders, and detection engineers alike to demonstrate how Cymulate empowers organizations to continuously validate, optimize, and improve their detection and response capabilities across hybrid and cloud environments.
To help defenders strengthen and validate their defenses, the SE must deeply understand both how threats operate and how detection technologies identify and respond to them.
This role blends hands-on technical execution with strategic customer engagement — ideal for professionals who can both craft attack simulations and explain their business impact in board-level discussions.
What You Will Do
- Act as the primary technical advisor and SecOps subject matter expert to the sales team and customers throughout the sales cycle.
- Lead proofs of concept (POCs) and live demonstrations that showcase Cymulate’s capabilities in validating threats detection and prevention.
- Collaborate with customers’ SOC and detection engineering teams to craft and execute realistic attack techniques aligned with frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
- Validate and enhance SIEM detections, alert logic, and response coverage across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Advise customers on threat detection maturity, control validation, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Engage with both executive and technical audiences, tailoring your communication to CISOs, SOC managers, and hands-on engineers.
- Provide structured feedback to Product and R&D teams to drive product enhancements based on customer needs.
- Partner closely with Customer Success to ensure a smooth handoff and ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Travel occasionally (approximately twice per quarter) for key customer engagements, events, or workshops.
What You Will Need
- 3–5 years of experience in a pre-sales or technical advisory role in cybersecurity, ideally with a focus on SOC operations, detection engineering, or threat validation.
- Strong understanding of SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, Elastic), EDR/XDR solutions, and cloud-native detection tools.
- Proven experience in validating and tuning detection rules, analyzing attack telemetry, and optimizing visibility across hybrid environments.
- Practical knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, threat emulation, and incident response processes.
- Solid grasp of IT fundamentals, including networks, operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), and security architectures.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both executive stakeholders and technical practitioners.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Zoom, and other common sales or collaboration tools.
What Will Set You Apart
- Hands-on experience with Breach and Attack Simulation, red/blue team operations, or offensive security frameworks.
- Working knowledge of cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, M365) and associated detection capabilities.
- Ability to develop or modify attack scripts, detection logic, or playbooks using languages like PowerShell, Python, or KQL.
- Experience collaborating with CISO-level executives and SOC analysts in the same engagement cycle.
