Who is ControlPlane?

ControlPlane is a London headquartered consultancy specialising in cloud-native, Kubernetes, and open source solutions. Our expertise lies in helping organisations adopt and secure complex cloud infrastructures by implementing security measures that are "secure-by-design" and "secure-by-default." This engineering excellence has driven ControlPlane deeper into cybersecurity providing services like threat modelling, penetration testing, and supply chain security to ensure robust protection against cyberattacks in containerised and cloud-native environments.

We are acclaimed for our contributions to securing highly regulated industries, such as finance, healthcare, and national infrastructure. We help businesses improve their security posture through services like DevSecOps consulting, zero-trust architectures, and platform engineering. ControlPlane also focuses on advancing best practices in the Kubernetes ecosystem, offering specialised training and community engagement.

Our clients range from multinational banks to tech giants and public clouds, where we assist with both security and operational needs. In addition to consulting, we are active in the open source community, supporting projects like Flux CD and providing security tools for Kubernetes environments.

Over the coming years you’ll see us retain our focus on solving difficult problems for clients with intense security controls using pragmatic, real world solutions. Taking our extensive R&D to help organisations consume next generation and open source projects safely and securely - that might be extending our work with FINOS AI Readiness or the overhaul of open source supply chain security.

What We’re Looking For in a Technical Program Manager

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to support the CEO in his dual role as CTO, driving the organisation and delivery of strategic technical initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of technology, product, and business execution, ensuring that R&D and product development programs are delivered to scope, budget, and schedule, while also aligning to commercial and go-to-market objectives.

The Technical Program Manager will own the delivery systems, resource management, and reporting structures that underpin execution, while also providing strategic insight into how projects support our product roadmap, innovation agenda, and growth strategy.

Role, Responsibilities and Requirements of Our Technical Program Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate CEO/CTO initiatives into structured, actionable programs with defined deliverables, budgets, and timelines
  • Collaborate with CEO/CTO on program decomposition and definition
  • Own and manage delivery platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Runn), ensuring accurate planning, tracking, and reporting
  • Drive execution of R&D, product development, and technical projects across engineering, product, and commercial teams
  • Ensure programs are aligned with CI/CD best practices and modern development lifecycles, driving efficiency and quality
  • Oversee resource planning and budget control, ensuring optimal allocation of talent and spend
  • Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and commercial teams to align delivery with go-to-market milestones and customer needs
  • Provide clear governance and reporting to the CEO/CTO and leadership team, highlighting progress, risks, and dependencies
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, scalability, and repeatability of innovation programs
  • Support the CEO/CTO in evaluating and prioritising technical initiatives based on business impact and strategic value

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Proven track record in program or product delivery management within a technology driven business (cloud, AI, cybersecurity, SaaS, or similar)
  • Strong technical literacy: able to interpret requirements, understand development workflows, and engage effectively with engineering teams
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Agile/Scrum frameworks, and modern product development practices
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to align technical delivery to product strategy, GTM plans, and customer value
  • Experience in managing complex, cross-functional programs with multiple stakeholders and dependencies
  • Skilled in delivery and collaboration tools (Jira, Runn, Forecast, etc.)
  • Strong financial acumen: able to manage budgets, forecasts, and ROI reporting
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable operating at both executive and technical levels
  • Experience working with regulated industries is a plus

Personal Attributes

  • Trusted partner to the CEO/CTO, able to provide both operational rigour and strategic insight
  • Highly execution-focused, but able to see the bigger strategic picture
  • Organised, proactive, and resourceful — thrives in fast-paced, scaling environments
  • Adept at bridging the gap between technical teams and commercial objectives
  • Outcome-driven with a pragmatic approach to delivery
