Java Developer (Travel and Transportation sphere)

Project Description

The goal of this project is to upgrade and modernize an existing platform, making it more scalable, improving performance, and preparing it for future integrations and an expanding data model. The roadmap includes new feature development, with clear quarterly milestones and a major release.

What You'll Do

• Conduct technical analysis, propose scalable and secure solutions, and evaluate technical options with the client lead and team;
• Participate in architecture and design discussions, documenting and aligning architecture with best practices and project goals;
• Collaborate with product owners to clarify technical and business requirements, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with feature specifications;
• Maintain effective communication across teams and departments, updating stakeholders on progress, risks, and technical solutions;
• Identify opportunities for technical and process improvements, staying up to date with industry trends;
• Promote continuous learning and innovation across the team;
• Provide mentorship, share best practices, and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture;

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in Java, with recent experience in Java 17 preferred;
• Strong background in Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JPA;
• Experience with PostgreSQL and familiarity with SQL/NoSQL storage concepts (Redis, MongoDB);
• Understanding of QA processes and testing strategies in software development;
• Experience running high-load, high-uptime production systems;
• Experience with data-intensive systems and data-driven product architectures;
• Solid stakeholder management and communication skills;
• English proficiency B2 or higher for communication with international teams;

Nice To Have

• Knowledge of software security, secure coding practices, and PII management;
• Experience working in the airline or travel domain;
• Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or AWS;
• Experience with observability tools such as Datadog (preferred), NewRelic, or Prometheus;
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux-based environments;
• Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools;
• Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD tools and processes;
