About the team

The team’s mission is to empower researchers and scientists by enabling chemistry within everyday software platforms, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).

The team works closely with experts across development, UX, and product management to embed specialized tools within widely used applications, enabling seamless workflows for scientific and technical communication. Through this collaborative approach, the team delivers impactful, industry-leading solutions that address the complex needs of scientific research and technical fields.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work on integrating advanced chemistry tools within Microsoft Office applications, significantly impacting the daily workflows of scientific professionals worldwide. The position presents distinct professional challenges, including the transition from desktop applications to web-based or SaaS solutions while embedding technical plugins within established platforms and balancing complex functionality with ease of use.

About your responsibilities

  • Contribute to the vision and strategy for integrating chemistry functionalities within Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), ensuring users can seamlessly incorporate chemical concepts and structures into their work.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and cross-functional teams to define and prioritize features that enhance the user experience and effectiveness of chemistry tools in Office.
  • Assist in the development of functionalities that support both desktop and web-based solutions.
  • Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback and insights, using this information to help iterate and improve the chemistry capabilities within Office applications.
  • Participate in the product life cycle, ensuring that new features align with market needs and enhance the overall value of the chemistry tools available in Microsoft Office.

Experience, skills and knowledge you should bring to us

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, ideally working on plugins or extensions for major software platforms.
  • Familiarity with the Office ecosystem (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), preferably experience in managing products that integrate with Office applications or other document management solutions.
  • Solid understanding of product management principles, including feature prioritization, roadmap creation, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively work across technical and non-technical teams.

Bonus skills that will help you hit the ground running

  • Experience in scientific or technical software, especially in chemistry, biology, or life sciences.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles to create user-friendly experiences within complex software environments.
  • Familiarity with API integrations and challenges around Office compatibility.
  • Background in chemistry or a related field, which would enhance an understanding of the tool’s end users and their workflows.
