About the role

The Head of Solution Engineering at Professional Services is a key leadership role responsible for driving the technical strategy, and execution of custom development projects and  additional support services. The Head of Solution Engineering plays a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing our engineering capabilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

 

About your responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership:
    • Provide strategic and technical leadership to the solution engineering team.
    • Collaborate with the PS Director and Head of Delivery to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team.
    • Work closely with Project Managers and Solution Architects to ensure effective project coordination and resource allocation: oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of custom software development, data migration and consultancy projects within established timelines and budget constraints.
    • Implement the necessary methodologies and other best practices to optimize project delivery.
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and mentor a team of Solution Engineers , fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    • Set clear expectations, define goals, and provide regular feedback to team members.
    • Onboard, and retain top talent to ensure the team's continued growth and success.
  • Technical Excellence:
    • Ensure the implementation of best coding practices, code reviews, and quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of software craftsmanship.
    • Drive the adoption of modern development tools, methodologies, and technologies to enhance productivity and code quality.
    • Programming and scripting (Java, Python, C#, Groovy, node.js).
    • Strong knowledge in database technology (Sql+NoSql, data warehouses+lakes+marts, ETL, AWS RDS).
    • Experience with enterprise technology (API, messaging, clustering, networking, security).
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Foster a collaborative and transparent communication culture within the engineering team and cross-functionally.
    • Work closely with product management, design, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration of all components.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with software development projects.
    • Implement measures to maintain the security, scalability, and performance of software applications.

Experience, skills and knowledge you should bring to us

  • Experience with small, fast moving consulting oriented projects.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills across various media (knowledge sharing, presentations, remote and on-site communication).
  • Experience in mentoring.
  • Motivated and passionate about customer satisfaction.
  • Experience and skills with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and relevant technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, virtualization).
  • Strong knowledge in database technology (SQL*, NoSQL, data warehouses/lakes/marts, ETL, AWS RDS).
  • Programming and scripting experience (Java, Python, C#, R, Node.js nice to have).
  • Experience with enterprise technology (API, messaging, clustering, networking,
  • Eagerness to learn general knowledge of software and processes used in drug discovery.
  • Nice to have: Background in science (e.g. chemistry, biology, biochemistry).
  • Eagerness to learn new skills in SaaS product presentation, deployment and support.
