Today, the Trust Infrastructure consists of two products that seamlessly connect the entire carbon removal lifecycle: Carbonfuture MRV+, the most comprehensive MRV solution for durable CDR, and Carbonfuture Marketplace, the leading marketplace for durable CDR. At Carbonfuture, we build trust throughout the carbon removal journey with our rigorous, data-driven approach, ensuring unmatched quality and reliability of carbon removal. We empower suppliers by providing the essential project support and finance needed to transform their carbon removal projects into fully certified carbon credits. We work with some of the world's most ambitious climate leaders such as Microsoft, Swiss Re, and the World Economic Forum First Movers Coalition.

Your role & responsibilities 

As the Head of People & Culture, you will play a crucial role in defining and nurturing our company’s culture and talent strategy to ensure we remain innovative and ahead of the curve. You will lead a small team, working closely with leadership and employees to create an environment where everyone can thrive in our remote-first hybrid work environment. Your expertise in organizational development, recruiting, employee engagement, compensation schemes, and human resource management will be key to your success, guiding your efforts to build a supportive, productive, and inclusive workplace. 

What you’ll do  

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the People & Culture team to develop and execute strategies that align with our business goals and values.  
  • Utilize HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making and report on key HR metrics to the executive team, support overall company strategy through OKRs.  
  • Develop and implement strategic workforce plans to meet current and future organizational needs.
  • Develop competitive compensation and benefits packages that attract and retain talent while aligning with the company's financial goals.
  • Design and oversee HR strategies like pay equity and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. 

Culture & Values

  • Own the creation and implementation of initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture in a remote-first hybrid set-up.
  • Develop or initiate strength-based leadership trainings for a small leadership team to collaboratively lead the company to enhance overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Implement comprehensive employee retention strategies focused on professional development, recognition, and a positive work environment. 

Employee Retention & Development

  • Implement and oversee performance appraisal systems, ensuring continuous feedback and professional development opportunities.  

Recruiting & Employer Branding

  • Enhance employer branding to attract and retain top talent.
  • Oversee staff responsible for recruitment, pipeline management, and new employee onboarding. 

HR Operations 

  • Create, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and best practices.
  • Oversee staff responsible for payroll and benefits administration.

What you bring to the table  

  • You have at least 5+ years of experience in a senior HR or People & Culture role.
  • You think strategically with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • You have experience implementing core HR processes in an international remote/hybrid setup.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of talent management and employee engagement practices.
  • You have a high degree of emotional intelligence, and you are excellent at building strong relationships across all organizational levels with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You have a great written and verbal command of English and German languages.  

Bonus points if... 

  • You have experience collaborating on HR matters in the US, Switzerland or with an EOR provider.

Carbonfuture offers remote and hybrid work options, but this position is based in Freiburg im Breisgau DE, Frankfurt DE, or Zürich CH.  If you are not based in Freiburg, Frankfurt, or Zürich but would consider relocating, please note that in your job application.
