Job Overview:

The Assistant HSE Manager will design, develop, and assure the implementation of the HSE. It shall be developed in line with ISO 45001, 14001, 22301, 39001 & 9001 and is an integral part of the Safety Case demonstration. The role has a vital role in ensuring risks affecting health, safety, Security the Environment and Quality are identified throughout the operation lifecycle, and that suitable and sufficient mitigations are established in line with CAFU’s risk appetite. The role has the power to stop operations when outside of the risk appetite and therefore requires an exceptional individual with sound understanding of risks and resolution to solve issues quickly to enable the business to continue to operate safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continued development and implementation of the HSSEQMS
  • Implement and gain accreditation to ISO 45001, 14001, 22301, 39001 & 9001 standards.
  • Support R&D to evolve the vehicles, depots, and operations so that safe operations continue to be substantiated.
  • Assure the implementation of HSSEQMS
  • Assure operations are performed within legal requirements and other commitments to which the organization subscribes.
  • Investigate incidents to identify systemic causes and implement actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Use leading and lagging performance indicators to steer Directors focus in HSSEQ objectives
  • Establish and maintain a robust emergency management capacity.

Success Metrics - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Improved HSE culture, ensure all B2Bs are assessed and reassessed in the next 6 months.
  • Training of existing and new workers
  • Corporate OKRs –
    • Reduce TRIR and ensure safe site operations (OSHA Regulations)
    • Improve logistics operations to reduce fueling incidents
    • Completion of site audits (every month to improve and maintain good working standards)
    • Completion of external audits (50 B2B customer sites over six months)

Required Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills & Responsibilities)

  • High level certificate, Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety or in a related field.
  • Preferred designation as a Certified Safety Professional (NEBOSH/IGC)
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience in appropriate discipline with special emphasis on SH&E duties
  • Driving expected for the role so must have a driving license and be willing to travel.
  • Proven track record of managing and reducing risk in high-risk industries, preferably oil and gas.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, works independently and possesses strong organisation and time management skills
  • Influential leader, team player and effective change agent using facts and emotions
