Location: This position is open to candidates based in San Francisco, California, USA only, due to the office management responsibilities.

About this role in the team:

We are looking for a dynamic, data-driven People Partner with a strong understanding of U.S. labor laws and excellent office management skills to join our People & Talent team, reporting to the VP of People & Talent. In this role, you will focus on optimizing performance management processes, conducting data analysis, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws. Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the office environment. You will collaborate with business leaders to assess and enhance performance management systems, derive actionable insights, and implement strategies that improve organizational effectiveness, all while ensuring compliance with U.S. labor regulations and maintaining a productive, comfortable, and efficient workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Management Analysis:

  • Lead the analysis of performance management data across BVNK to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of performance management programs, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Partner with managers to review and refine performance metrics, goal-setting frameworks, and feedback loops for all employees.
  • Analyze employee engagement and performance feedback surveys to identify correlations between performance outcomes and employee satisfaction.

Data-Driven Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement systems to monitor employee performance data in real-time, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design data-driven strategies that improve employee performance, retention, and growth.
  • Regularly present findings to leadership teams, offering strategic recommendations based on data insights and performance metrics.
  • Develop materials that help managers navigate performance evaluations, goal setting, and continuous feedback mechanisms.

Career Frameworks:

  • Develop and implement clear and effective career frameworks that provide employees with defined growth paths and opportunities for development.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and managers to ensure career frameworks align with organizational goals and employee aspirations.
  • Advise on talent development initiatives, including promotions, skill-building programs, and career pathing for employees across various levels.
  • Ensure career frameworks support a culture of continuous learning, engagement, and retention.

Labor Law Compliance:

  • Ensure all practices are compliant with applicable labor laws, including wage and hour laws, non-discrimination regulations, and employee rights.
  • Stay updated on the latest labor law changes, including federal, state, and local regulations that impact performance reviews, promotions, and compensation.
  • Advise management on how to align performance management systems with legal requirements to mitigate risk and enhance compliance.
  • Guide managers  on sensitive issues like performance-based discipline, terminations, and promotions in compliance with U.S. labor laws.

Employee Relations:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on performance issues, providing guidance and resolving conflicts.
  • Support managers in handling difficult performance conversations, terminations, and improvement plans.
  • Champion fair, equitable, and legally compliant processes in all aspects of employee performance managemen

Office Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the office to ensure a smooth and efficient work environment.
  • Manage office supplies, inventory, and equipment, ensuring the office is adequately stocked and functional.
  • Coordinate office maintenance, including working with vendors, arranging repairs, and ensuring a clean and organized workplace.
  • Support the planning and coordination of in-office events, meetings, and employee activities to foster team engagement and collaboration.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all office-related concerns, ensuring timely resolution of any issues that arise.
  • Oversee office health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and creating a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers such as catering, office cleaning, and maintenance companies.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong ability to interpret and present complex data and performance metrics in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating performance management programs, including goal-setting and feedback mechanisms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • High degree of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee performance information.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, with a focus on performance management, data analysis, and labor law compliance.

In-depth knowledge of U.S. labor laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII, etc.).

Proven experience using HR software (e.g., HRIS, performance management tools, data analytics platforms).
