About this role in the team:

As a Paralegal at BVNK, you will be an integral part of the business supporting all teams to ensure the legal integrity of our products and processes. You will be providing support for a wide variety of functions and/or verticals within the global BVNK team. The role involves dealing with a host of commercial agreements/transactions, ad hoc business projects and advising the business on various commercial legal matters. 

We are looking for an individual with a hands-on approach that has a propensity to review, amend, draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts, both for customers of and suppliers to the Group and its various business units. You will be responsible for setting contracting standards to be followed across the Group, ensuring that the Group's contracts enable compliance with all of the Group's policies and procedures, as well as all relevant licenses and regulations.

The role requires a high level of interaction with individuals across all aspects and levels of the business and a willingness to step in at short notice for conflict resolution and legal oversight. 

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate agreements with customers, partners and suppliers across the globe, including back-to-back subcontracting.
  • Develop and maintain commercial contract templates.
  • Assess and advise on legal risks, propose constructive solutions and challenge business decisions from a legal perspective.
  • Provide day-to-day product-specific legal advice to internal stakeholders such as commercial, product, marketing, and compliance teams.
  • Develop proactive product-oriented relationships with the above teams to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Conduct research and stay up to date with legislative developments, anticipating legal and commercial risks and advising and assisting the business to prepare for them.
  • Coordinate questions from various internal stakeholders, taking the lead on providing globally-approved and consistent responses.
  • Provide administrative support to the Legal team, including maintenance of precedents, databases and records.
  • Manage and coordinate internal legal team communication channels and external legal support.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with the company’s internal legal contract review process.

What we need from you:

  • Preferably a Bachelor Degree in any field with a strong preference for a LLB qualification.
  • 1-3 years of relevant working experience (in-house and/or firm) of commercial and corporate work, preferably involved Financial Services.
  • Proficiency in legal software and technology (such as LawVu and DocuSign)
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating NDAs, Supplier and Partner contracts. 
  • Working understanding of data protection legislation (including GDPR).
  • Be an innovator with good problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet critical deadlines and operate in a high-pressure environment.
  • Good legal and business judgment.
  • Fluency in English
