
Financial Accountant (Maternity cover)
The Role
The Accountant is part of the Finance Department and focuses on high-volume transactional processes, including (but not limited to) accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and general ledger activities. The team consists of Accounting Managers, Senior Accountants, and Accountants.
Reporting to the Accounting Manager (or Senior Accountant), this role is an integral part of the global accounting team. The Accountant is responsible for month-end close activities, financial analysis, reconciliations, and support during financial audits. The position offers exposure to multiple areas of Cision through reporting and analysis of actual financial results.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Prepare monthly journal entries related to bank activities, prepaid expenses, property, plant and equipment, accrued expenses, payroll accounting, and intercompany accounting, in line with close timelines
- Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, addressing questions from reviewers and management in a timely manner
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including international accounting teams, FP&A, Legal, and external consultants, particularly in relation to flux analysis and ad-hoc support
- Prepare audit schedules and proactively respond to auditor queries, resolving audit issues as required
- Assist with footnote tie-outs for quarterly and year-end financial statements prepared under US GAAP and IFRS
- Support statutory financial reporting and statutory audits
Essential Skills and Experience
- English proficiency (primary language for communication within the organisation)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and/or 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Knowledge of US GAAP (preferred)
- Experience working in a global, decentralised environment (preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- NetSuite experience is a plus
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated, target- and data-driven, with the ability to work independently and manage repetitive tasks
- Team player with an interest in understanding business dynamics
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines without close supervision
- Adaptable and open to change, with a willingness to learn and embrace new technologies
- High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling company financial information
