As an Engineering Manager, your primary responsibilities include:
Maintaining and improving current systems while designing and implementing new ones
- Uphold a high-quality standard in the backend stack in collaboration with other teams
- Deliver well-tested and scalable solutions.
- Collaborating with customers and business teams to translate requirements into technical documentation and architectural drawings
- Monitoring systems and optimizing their performance and reliability
- Mentoring and guiding junior members of the team and participating in the interviewing process for new candidates
- Proactively share and debate best practices with your peers.
- Coordinating with other departments to avoid duplicated efforts
- Developing solutions using modern technologies
- Understanding data storage engines, data processing pipelines, and APIs
- Writing well-documented, elegant, and self-testing code
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and management to ensure we're building the right thing at the right time.
What you have:
- Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience on a production system as developer.
- Solid understanding of APIs and contracts.
- Solid understanding of micro-services and domain-driven design.
- Excellent knowledge of Java, we are using Java 21.
- Intimate knowledge of the Spring Framework and the Spring ecosystem (although other similar frameworks are also fine).
- Experience with highly distributed, event-driven systems
- Experience with relational (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g. Elasticsearch, Bigtable, Redis) databases.
- In-depth knowledge of RESTful APIs, their design and implementation.
- Working knowledge of messaging technologies, Apache Kafka is a plus.
- Experience in building and debugging complex systems.
- Some exposure to reactive programming (is welcome).
- A record of coaching & mentoring other team members.
- Willingness and aptitude to influence the technical, architectural direction of our product.
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes
- The ability to write concise, to the point and idiomatic code in Java.
- Knowledge of unit testing frameworks and end-to-end testing.
- Excellent skills in communication and teamwork.
- Adaptable, resourceful and able to share your knowledge with the rest of the team.
- Fluency in English.
