Frontend Tech Lead (React) - Fintech Solution (Portugal)

We are looking for a Frontend Tech Lead (React) to join our growing fintech product development team in Lisbon, Portugal. In this role, you will lead the frontend engineering efforts on a payment integration platform, working closely with backend, DevOps, product, and design teams to deliver a scalable and high-performance financial solution. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical excellence, architectural vision, and team development.
✅ Responsibilities:
✔️ Own the frontend architecture and technical vision of the platform’s React-based interface
✔️ Lead and mentor a team of frontend engineers, supporting career growth, development plans, and performance feedback
✔️ Design, develop, and optimize user-facing components with a strong focus on responsiveness, speed, and usability
✔️ Define and enforce code quality standards, review practices, and testing guidelines
✔️ Ensure smooth integration with backend APIs (REST/GraphQL), collaborating closely with the backend and DevOps teams
✔️ Translate complex business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions
✔️ Lead technical discussions, identify risks, and ensure alignment with business goals and timelines
✔️ Maintain documentation on frontend architecture, reusable components, coding conventions, and deployment workflows
✔️ Contribute to cross-team technical alignment and decision-making processes
✔️ Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
✔️ Champion best practices in frontend security, performance, and accessibility
✔️ 5+ years of production experience with React and its ecosystem (Redux, Context, React Router, SSR, Hooks)
✔️ 2+ years of experience in a technical lead or team lead position
✔️ Deep understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
✔️ Strong experience with component architecture, reusable UI patterns, and state management
✔️ Solid experience consuming and integrating RESTful and GraphQL APIs
✔️ Experience setting up and maintaining frontend tooling (Vite, Webpack, ESLint, Prettier, CI/CD pipelines)
✔️ Proficiency with testing tools and frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, etc.)
✔️ Experience working with agile development teams in fast-paced environments
✔️ Excellent communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
✔️ Familiarity with financial platforms, fintech security standards, or payment workflows
✔️ Exposure to tools like Docker, RabbitMQ, Redis, or MySQL
✔️ Experience in designing systems or component libraries
✔️ Passion for great UX and product-thinking
