We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our development team in Lisbon, Portugal!

✅ Responsibilities:
✔️ Direct and control the back-end technologies of a platform/product;
✔️ Lead the recruitment and onboarding processes for the team, manage hiring and firing decisions as necessary, and coach teams and individuals to grow their talents;
✔️ Manage back-end team leads and senior engineers through activities such as periodic feedback, one-on-one sessions, performance evaluations, and preparation of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for direct reports;
✔️ Participate in and lead/co-lead agile processes and Scrum/Kanban ceremonies, ensuring the team adheres to set agile guidelines;
✔️ Oversee platform/product development, focusing on leadership rather than frequent involvement in coding or code reviews;
✔️ Manage resources within the team, rotating members when necessary and balancing workloads across teams;
✔️ Implement the latest technological innovations to advance the company’s technology and enable better digital products;
✔️ Create new guidelines and improve existing standards, ensuring the team's domain knowledge is well-documented;
✔️ Participate in and drive engineering initiatives beyond the immediate team that enhance overall engineering practices.

✅ Requirements:
✔️ Bachelor’s, Master’s, or higher degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field;
✔️ 8+ years of experience in back-end development, with at least 2+ years managing engineers or team leads;
✔️ Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and containers, cloud-based development, infrastructure and system design, microservices, SQL and NoSQL databases, and agile methodologies (ideally Scrum);
✔️ Strong knowledge of data structures, coding patterns, and algorithms;
✔️ Experience with RESTful APIs, message brokers, third-party integrations, code/peer reviews, working with design mock-ups, CI/CD, secure development, information security, and test-driven development;
✔️ Excellent skills in providing constructive feedback, analytical thinking, leadership, team management, communication, and presentation;
✔️ Proficiency in English (upper-intermediate level or higher).

3. Technical Interview focused on systems design with the Head of Backend.
4. Final Interview with the Head of Backend, Head of Development, and local HRBP.

❗️❗️ This position is based in Lisbon and requires on-site attendance, we do not offer remote or hybrid for this role. If you are not in Portugal, you will need to relocate. We will provide support throughout the entire relocation process.
