What’s the Role:
This role is ideal for a qualified Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Machinist, or Fitter & Turner looking for casual work within a heavy manufacturing environment. The variety of plant, equipment, and maintenance work is unmatched in the metropolitan area. You’ll be part of a skilled team of Electricians and Boilermakers supporting site operations.
You’ll support the maintenance team by carrying out mechanical repairs, installations, preventative maintenance, and breakdown work on site plant and equipment.
Reporting to the Mechanical Leading Hand, you’ll play an important role in keeping production running safely and efficiently, while ensuring all work is completed to statutory requirements and Bradken standards.
Your Impact:
- Respond to plant breakdowns and production stoppages
- Carry out mechanical repairs, installations, and overhauls on plant and equipment
- Complete preventative and reactive maintenance to maximise equipment reliability
- Use maintenance management systems (e.g. MEX / CMMS) to complete work orders
- Ensure maintenance work meets statutory, engineering, and quality standards
- Complete work orders, JSA documentation, and maintenance records accurately
- Promote a strong safety culture and report hazards or incidents promptly
- Contribute to plant improvement and continuous improvement initiatives
You Bring:
Essential:
- Mechanical Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Machinist, Fitter & Turner)
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
Preferred:
- Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g. MEX / CMMS)
- Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems
- Experience with reliability improvements or plant optimisation
- Ability to use and calibrate precision measuring equipment
