
Production Planner

Role Purpose & Contribution:
This role is responsible for planning and coordinating the flow of products across the full manufacturing cycle to ensure customer orders are delivered safely, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.
This position works closely with internal sales, production, and supply chain teams to maintain accurate production plans, manage order priorities, and optimise delivery performance (DIFOT). It plays a key role in aligning demand with production capacity while proactively identifying and resolving potential constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning:
- Review and validate sales orders against production capacity and material availability
- Develop and maintain production plans to meet customer delivery timelines
- Monitor and manage order due dates to improve DIFOT performance
- Continuously review production plans to identify risks related to stock, capacity, and delivery
- Update production planning systems with accurate order and completion data
Operational Coordination:
- Work closely with production teams to maximise operational efficiency and adherence to plans
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to manage changing priorities and ensure alignment
- Support monitoring and improvement of manufacturing cycle times
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely material availability
Reporting & Systems:
- Maintain accurate production data and reporting within ERP/MRP systems (e.g. Epicor)
- Provide regular updates on order status, lead times, and forward production loads
- Generate scheduled and ad-hoc reports to support operational decision-making
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies in planning processes and recommend improvements
- Support development of planning tools, systems, and workflows
- Contribute to improving supply chain performance and supplier relationships
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe and compliant work environment
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
About You
Qualifications
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field (desirable)
Experience
- Demonstrated years of experience in production planning within a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (e.g. Epicor)
- Foundry production experience desirable but not essential
- Proven ability to manage production schedules and meet delivery targets
- Experience improving planning processes and order fulfilment performance
Skills & Capability:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
