Senior Design Engineer

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of Bradken’s Mineral Processing products and services. The role supports manufacturing and sales through practical engineering solutions, technical expertise, and direct customer engagement.

Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, this position plays a key role in strengthening Bradken’s mill liner and mineral processing offering by combining detailed design capability with site-based performance insights. The role partners closely with Sales, Manufacturing, and customers to ensure products are safe, reliable, and aligned to operational requirements.

What the role involves

Design & Engineering

  • Design and engineer new products and modify existing products to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Complete solid modelling, detailed drafting, and engineering analysis/simulation
  • Conduct reverse engineering and site-based measurements to inform design improvements
  • Coordinate new and optimised products through engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Prepare technical documentation to support manufacturing, installation, and product use
  • Check drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards and requirements
  • Control and issue technical documentation for manufacturing and sales
  • Support the protection and appropriate release of Bradken intellectual property

Technical & Customer Support

  • Provide front-line technical and design support to internal teams and external customers
  • Attend customer sites to capture requirements, conduct inspections, and support product installation and performance reviews
  • Assist the Sales team with technical input for proposals, troubleshooting, and customer discussions
  • Collect field data and translate operational feedback into practical design enhancements

Knowledge & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain current knowledge of Bradken’s Mineral Processing product portfolio and industry developments
  • Develop and deliver product and design knowledge training for internal stakeholders
  • Participate in process improvements and adherence to quality, safety, and manufacturing standards
  • Contribute to document control, auditing, and engineering best practices
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers as required

Work Planning & Support

  • Comply with company requirements and safe work practices
  • Support manufacturing and sales with design transitions and superseded part changeovers
  • Assist with equipment quotations and capital expenditure submissions where required

Qualifications, Experience & Capabilities

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (preferred)
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering considered advantageous

Experience

  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience in product design, engineering analysis, and technical problem solving
  • Experience providing technical support to customers or site-based operations
  • Structural calculation experience desirable.
  • Teamcenter PLM experience desirable.
  • 3D scanning and processing software experience desirable.

Skills

  • Strong CAD and modelling capability
  • Practical, hands-on engineering mindset with attention to detail
  • Ability to translate field data into design improvements
  • Clear technical communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Organised documentation and standards compliance.
  • This role requires fluency in English and Bahasa.

This role is based in Merlimau, Malaysia.
