What’s the role?
Melting Operator – Foundry Group Lead | Bradken Chilca
You will be responsible for operating melting furnaces and related equipment in accordance with standards, procedures, and work instructions, ensuring safety, quality, and operational continuity. You will coordinate alloy preparation and charge calculations, charge the furnace with scrap and ferroalloys, and perform composition adjustments based on spectrometer chemical analysis. You will also lead sampling, temperature measurement (pyrometer), slag removal, pour preparation, and operate the overhead crane (remote control) for safe handling. In addition, you will inspect and patch/replace refractories (furnace and ladles), complete production reports, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Our ideal candidate meets the following criteria:
- Certification as a melting furnace operator (foundry) or evidence of equivalent competence.
- More than two years of relevant experience operating induction furnaces.
- Experience in spectrometry, composition adjustment, and overhead crane (remote control) operation.
- Knowledge of refractories (inspection, patching/replacement) and molten metal safety.
