What’s the Role?
Laboratory Operator – Chilca Plant
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Operator to join our team in Chilca. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our quality control process, ensuring our products meet the highest standards through precise and accurate testing. You will be working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with opportunities to learn and grow your skills in metallurgical and materials testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Laboratory Testing: Perform a variety of tests including spectrometer chemical analysis, sand sieve analysis, and tensile strength testing according to established standards and procedures.
- Equipment Operation & Calibration: Operate, calibrate, and maintain key laboratory equipment such as the melt shop spectrometer, muffle furnace, precision scales, and KING Brinell hardness testers.
- Sample Preparation & Reporting: Prepare samples for analysis and produce accurate, detailed inspection reports and quality control documentation.
- Quality & Safety Adherence: Uphold the highest standards of safety and 5S in the work area. Ensure all testing activities comply with company and ASTM standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve laboratory systems and processes, contributing to a culture of innovation and efficiency. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance skills and safety practices.
Our Ideal Candidate meets the following criteria:
- Education: Technical degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Industrial Processes, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in an industrial or laboratory environment.
- Background in the industry: Experience in industrial, manufacturing, fabrication or mining companies is valued but not mandatory.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to read and follow technical work instructions, and a proactive mindset.
Location: The position will be based at our Chilca Foundry, located at G74J+WH, Chilca 15870 (transportation will be provided).
