What is the role? HSE Specialist – Chilca

Support the Safety & Sustainability Business Partner to achieve safety and wellbeing compliance at the Chilca Plant, Peru location, ensuring the site is complying with all company and legislative safety and environmental requirements. The role supports the Safety team and Bradken leaders to deliver contemporary programs and services to affect sustainable change in safety and sustainability performance, mindset and behaviours in line with the strategic priorities and obligations. This role will also support general safety and sustainability performance, ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and guide the organisation along its safety and sustainability journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Your responsibilities will include assisting in the delivery of Safety and Sustainability training to raise employee awareness, improve safety and environmental performance, and maintain the site training register by compiling all training hours. You will assist in daily project monitoring of toolbox inspections, checklists, documentation, and record-keeping activities, as well as modify and update safety and sustainability-related work instructions.
  • A key function will be to assist in producing and distributing safety and environmental statistics and required monthly reporting. This role will administer the work accident prevention and worker health and safety components and manage the health and safety committee by participating, producing meeting reports, and handling enrolment and training. You will provide support and guidance on compliance activities such as monitoring, energy assessments, and exposure monitoring; investigate and analyze work incidents to implement necessary corrective actions; and participate in the planning and control of occupational health and safety prevention activities.
  • Furthermore, you will perform and provide guidance on risk assessments for tasks and machines, set up and lead OHS training, analyze the work environment with the help of specialists, communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, promote prevention activities, and handle any other related H&S tasks as required.

Our ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Diploma of college studies or bachelor’s degree in a safety/environment-related field, or any other combination of pertinent training and experience.

Experience & Capabilities

  • 3-4 years of experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role within the manufacturing or resources industry.
  • Experience in a unionized industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and assessing their applicability and impact to the field.
  • Experience with HS&E initiatives, programs and training in a project and operational setting.
  • Experience in safety culture transformation, leading and coaching leadership teams through a rigorous change management process.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Experience in facilitating incident investigation.
  • Experience in managing injury management and worker’s compensation.
  • Experience in driving behavioural change within an organisation.
  • Language skills: The native language is Spanish, and an intermediate level of English is also required.

Location: The position will be based at our Chilca Foundry, located at G74J+WH, Chilca 15870 (transportation will be provided).
