BOLD is committed to shaping the future of high-performance mobility from Formula 1 to aviation and marine. In our mission to deliver innovative and impactful products in the mobility sector, we are building the company whilst working with clients in exciting engineering and manufacturing challenges.

The Battery Systems Engineer play an integral role in bringing our cutting-edge battery systems from concept to serial production. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams of engineers, including battery designers, hardware, and software engineers, ensuring that our high-voltage battery systems meet the highest safety and performance standards. You will participate in the design and development of safety-critical systems across the entire product lifecycle, from initial specification analysis to serial production and after-sales support.
We are seeking a mid-level engineer with experience in developing complex, safety-critical systems, preferably in high-voltage battery systems or similar technologies. This role requires a good understanding of requirements-based engineering throughout the whole product lifecycle, along with the ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

What You Will Do:

  • Define and develop high-voltage battery system and sub-system requirements
  • Develop high- and low-voltage system architectures, ensuring that all safety-critical elements are addressed at both system and component levels.
  • Development and validation of electro-thermal battery computational models to ensure that safety and performance requirements are met.
  • Define boundary conditions, input parameters, and interfaces for CAE activities, focusing on electrical, mechanical, and thermal integration.
  • Prepare design reviews, safety analyses, and simulations to ensure that the system architecture meets all safety and performance criteria.
  • Develop comprehensive verification and validation (V&V) plans, procedures, and test protocols to ensure that all system requirements are fully validated and verified.
  • Prepare and oversee testing activities to confirm compliance with established requirements and generate detailed test reports.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration of battery systems and sub-systems

Skills You Will Need:

  • 2+ years of experience as a systems engineer for complex, safety-critical applications, particularly those involving electrical, electronic, software, and mechanical components.
  • Proven experience in high-voltage system development.
  • Expertise in requirements-based engineering processes and the use of requirements management tools (Polarion, JAMA, DOORS, or similar).
  • Experience with development-related analysis methods (FMEA, FTA, V-model) and system safety techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams.

Skills That Would Be Great to Have:

  • Advanced experience in the design, development, and validation of high-voltage battery systems for automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications.
  • Expertise in the use of simulation tools and software development for battery management systems (BMS) and other safety-critical components.
  • Proficiency in system simulation and modelling tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink, and familiarity with programming languages like C++, Python, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of certification and or qualification processes and standards for battery systems, including safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
  • Experience in model based system engineering (MBSE).

Compensation and benefits

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Flexible compensation
    • Health insurance
    • Kindergarten
  • Dining room & subsidized catering.
