Your Mission:

Join our team as a Risk Manager, specialising in providing non financial risk oversight to our growing Stocks & Shares business. You will support the Group Risk Management team primarily identifying, assessing, monitoring, and treating Non-Financial Risks across the financial services sector, as well as overseeing aspects of financial and liquidity risk management. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a culture of risk management excellence, upholding the use and adoption of Bitpanda’s Enterprise Risk Management framework, while promoting innovative ways to keep customers and company financial assets safe.

You have a strong analytical mindset with a passion for stocks and financial services and all related lifecycle processes. Through your engagement and oversight over Financial Service activities, you will challenge management to think differently about risk, becoming a key advisor to our business, products, technology and operations teams.

You will report to the Head of Operational Risk, becoming a key part of Bitpanda’s growing Group Risk Management Team.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee and advise Business, Product and Technology partners in the 1LOD on the offering of products and financial services from a non financial risk management as well as from a financial and liquidity risk perspective.  
  • Champion the use and adoption of the Non Financial Risk Framework across the company. In this capacity, you will be supporting and challenging key stakeholders in the 1LOD and 2LOD on all aspects of non financial risk from defining the risk appetite, ensuring a strong internal control framework, maintaining robust risk and control assessments, tracking Management Actions, and ensuring Monitoring and Assurance activities on the business’s risks and controls.
  • Oversee the use of relevant models adopted to monitor financial and liquidity risk exposures triggered by products and financial services offered by Bitpanda.  
  • Conduct ad-hoc risk analysis and reporting for senior management, consistently solving and adapting to problems.
  • Be an active risk advocate and influencer in strategic business transformations and key project activities affecting the Financial Services offering at Bitpanda.
  • Advise risk owners on assessment and risk treatment of identified risks. Provide data-driven analysis of risk topics, empowering quantitative and qualitative insights to enable risk-based decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with the Financial Risk Management team in building and refining financial risk monitoring tools and models over stocks and all financial service activities.
  • Act as the point of contact for Bitpanda’s Business, Product and Operational teams concerning risk management across Bitpanda’s Financial Services activities.
  • Perform all required Risk Manager activities pertaining to the regulatory supervision of our all relevant Financial Services licences at Bitpanda, engaging regularly with senior management and key stakeholders to provide regular insights and reporting on the identification, assessment, monitoring and managing of risks, ensuring that appropriate risk management practices are consistently applied and updated.

Who you are:

  • An expert in financial services and securities (stocks, commodities, indices, etc.) with a solid understanding of product lifecycles from licensing and product creation to execution and settlement, stocks from a technical and operational perspective, while also demonstrating a solid grasp of financial market dynamics and the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Previous experience in risk management with a focus on operational risk and a solid understanding of financial securities processes, controls and best practices.  
  • A self-starter, agile and independent thinker able to operate in a fast-changing environment.  Results oriented, seeking to constantly make an impact and consistently contribute ideas and best practices. 
  • Someone who demonstrates ownership and takes pride in bringing risk-management topics to life, embedding risk management practices that are high output, low friction.
  • Professional familiarity with financial and liquidity risk management practices and standards.
