Purpose and Objectives for the Role
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing and ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time. This role will also support statutory reporting, HR data audits, and employee payroll queries, working closely with the Senior HR Manager and Finance team. Attention to detail, data integrity, and confidentiality are essential for success in this position.
Overall Responsibilities
- Manage and process monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Maintain accurate payroll records including salary, overtime, deductions, benefits, bonuses, and leave balances.
- Validate payroll inputs from HR systems and coordinate with the Senior HR Manager to review and approve final payroll reports.
- Prepare and submit WPS files and coordinate with Finance to ensure timely salary disbursement.
- Manage payroll-related documentation for new joiners, leavers, and contract changes (e.g., promotions, transfers, pay reviews).
- Respond to employee payroll queries, providing timely and professional support.
- Maintain compliance with UAE labour laws and regulations including gratuity, end-of-service, and leave encashment calculations.
- Liaise with internal departments (HR, Finance) and external vendors (e.g. insurance, benefits providers) as needed.
- Prepare payroll-related reports for internal and external audits.
- Assist in HRIS data audits and support continuous improvement of payroll processes and automation.
Skills Required
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing within the UAE, preferably in a mid-to-large sized organisation.
- Strong understanding of UAE Labour Law, WPS compliance, and payroll-related regulations.
- Experience using payroll systems and HRIS platforms (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or local UAE payroll software).
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and integrity in handling confidential data.
- Good analytical skills with the ability to reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data reporting tools.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a customer-service mindset.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, HR, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience in payroll processing and administration.
- Professional payroll certification (e.g. CIPP, APA) is desirable but not essential.
